CieAura launched a little over a year ago. One year, 50 countries and over $200 million in sales later, I think they may be on to something…
I got the call from an old friend working with CieAura asking for 3 videos:
- a 3:00 Motion Graphics business opportunity piece with a few green screen testimonials
- a new 3:00 testimonial piece
- a :30 teaser announcing their NBA/WNBA deal
Time was tight and they had a full line of products to be shot for both stills and 360 rotations for the videos….
ENTER THE TURNTABLE
After several failed attempts at getting a lazy susan to rotate smoothly, a trip to my local craft store led me to this priceless gem! A battery-powered display turntable for $19.

These things are worth their weight in gold for video product shots. The only trick is getting the product centered on the turntable, but once she’s lined up, it’s a breeze.

I wasn’t getting very slick reflections with the soft boxes or the barn doors, so I picked up a couple of rechargeable LED work lights that have an array of LEDs which make for some wicked reflections. Plus, look at the handles of these things – clearly modeled after lightsabers…

The color of the LEDs is VERY blue through the cameras, but with a little post color correction, they work well.

I applied this technique to their cans and the wrist bands, then pulled them into Apple Motion which makes kaleidescope-like effects a breeze.
